A half-day workshop of exercises dedicated to applying zone/scale focusing techniques for Leica M owners.
The Zone/Scale Focusing concept has been around for a long time. Leica M owners know about it and understand the concepts, but there have not been many opportunities to apply this technique to practice and help increase the shot count they actually want in focus.
Do you already know how to Zone Focus but still struggle with it? Do you want to get better at it? If so, then this workshop is for you. Join us for this four-hour workshop “focusing” on Zone Focusing. The goal will be for owners of the Noctilux to improve their skills at using it at f/0.95; and for Summilux and Summicron owners wishing to get better zone focusing at f/1.4 and f/2.0.
Our Leica Akademie instructor, Philip, has been teaching zone focusing techniques and thought process for years to students in workshops as well as in private training. Through exercises and practical applications, many of those students have had great results, which inspired us to do a workshop solely on this topic. Proven techniques combined with exercises developed by the Leica Akademie, are the core of this class content.
This workshop will be minimally lecture based, and will mostly consisting of key exercises to get “In the Zone” and optimize your speed and thought process.
Students will leave with an understanding of when and how to use zone focusing and keeping “both eyes open” with the lens wide open.
Topics covered include:
- Overall improvement of your zone focusing to help you master your f/0.95, f/1.4, and f/2.0 or your widest open Aperture
- Zone focusing moving people and objects
- Zone focusing with moving objects
- Zone focusing in low-light situations
- One handed use of the M
- Getting used to having both eyes open
- Being realistic with zone focusing and shooting techniques to optimize your zone focusing experience
Who should take this workshop?
This class is designed for Leica M users who understand zone focusing, but wish to master it. Anyone owning an M-Systems Digital or Analogue will be able to participate. Those with the Noctilux, Summilux, and Summicron series lenses who wish to improve their Zone Focusing/wide open skills will develop a solid skillset.
Notes: Neutral Density ND Filters are strongly encouraged for this workshop.
*Class Size Limited to 10 Students*
