Leica Store Boston – Through the Lens: A workshop with Jason Lee – April 29th 2018 – SOLD OUT
11:00am – 6:00pm
Rural America as a general landscape and concept is where Jason Lee finds himself most inspired. He’s drawn in particular to California, the southwest, and the plains. Lee has made many photographs in California and the southwest over the years, and mostly with black-and-white films. Now living in Texas, Lee had a strong desire to explore the state more extensively. And in color.
Jason Lee’s current project, A PLAIN VIEW, takes us on a journey through rural Texas. Desolate, worn, at times seemingly frozen in a moment, Jason Lee documents these locations with a sense of importance. Through his approach and use of a familiar nostalgic palette, Lee gives us a reason to notice this side of our American landscape.
Topics covered include:
- Jason’s photographic ethos
- 35mm to large format photography
- Why he uses film
- Finding inspiration
- Why photography is his medium.
