March 3rd-4th, 2018, join Ahmet Polat for a two day workshop at the Leica Store and Gallery in Boston.
The focus on this workshop is to re-frame the traditional approach to visual storytelling. In the times we live its important to think about how to create engaging artistic practices. Storytelling is not a problem, but how we frame stories is a problem and the question we will explore.
This workshop will highlight how to create an engaging narrative that is more than traditional still journalism. Using his own projects as examples Ahmet will discuss the different visual solutions that can be used to discover new perspectives in creating projects.
Who should take this workshop?
This workshop is ideal for a advanced amateurs and professional photographers, Director of Photography, filmmakers and students interested in moving beyond the traditional approach to photography in art documentary projects.

Students with projects currently in progress will find this workshop particularly helpful.
Enrollment is limited to only 12 participants.
Coffee and snacks will be provided throughout. A catered lunch on the final day of the workshop.
Ahmet Polat is a photographer whose work is connected to his habit of observation and directing. Motivated to capture the unexpected, the quality of his work has earned the deserved respect of serious critique. Since graduating from the St Joost Academy in Holland, Ahmet has won several awards and grants like the ICP Infinity Award 2006, Laureate Photographer of the Dutch Nation 2015 and he has exhibited, lectured and published prolifically, ranking Bozarts in Brussels, the Istanbul Modern, Rijksmuseum, FOAM and Stedelijk Amsterdam, the NY Times, French and Turkish Vogue as some of prestigious places. Born of a Dutch mother and Turkish father, Ahmet integrates his bi-cultural perspective in everything he does.
He is currently working on an on going theater, film and exhibition called , The Myth of Men which just opened during the Istanbul Biennial in 2017.
